NWS for Magic Mountain

7-Day weather.

It's a chilly (7 degree) start to our Throwback Thursday with some fresh snow which should help open a bit more East Side terrain. Temperatures will reach the mid-20s under partly sunny skies. We've received 6+ inches of snow in the past couple of days and we estimate about 20 trails and a couple low angle east side glades open. Ski Patrol will be out this morning surveying the conditions and dropping some of the ropes from the weekend as they can, and we will adjust the trail count and status based on real information as it occurs. Remember, on the all-natural, non-snowmaking trails there is a icy base underneath a very light, dry powder so it will still be a bit rough/firm feeling underneath and natural obstacles like bare ground and rocks may exist so ski with caution. UPDATE: We've just received reports of our groomer breaking down on the hill so currently there is no newly groomed terrrain as both groomers are "under repair". It is a "ski it as is" day until such time as some grooming can be done. Be cautious of snowmobile tracks from last night's snowmaking team and snowmaking piles on Trick, Wand, Show Off and Hocus Pocus as these can't be groomed out until snowcats are fixed.
